SciFinder: New Features
The web version of SciFinder recently introduced a few new features. It includes SciPlanner (a synthesis planner), sorting by citation counts, pasting from ISIS/Draw, and links for Medline references. SciPlanner looks very similar to the Synthesis Plans in the Reaxys database and sorting by citation count takes a page from citation databases like Web of Science and Scopus. If interested in learning more, please let me know. CAS also has information on their Support and Training website: http://www.cas.org/support/scifi/new.html

Sharing References, Structures, and Reactions in SciFinder
Using the "Link" feature in the web version of SciFinder allows you to share references, structures, and reactions you find with colleagues who are also using the web version of SciFinder. Just click the "Link" icon to obtain a URL for the reference, structure, or reaction to share with others. Alternatively, you can select and save the results from a search. Then open the "Saved Answer Sets" and click "Link" to obtain a URL. If interested in learning more, please drop by or email me.
What's SciFinder? A comprehensive database for chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, and related subjects. It includes information on substances, reactions, and provides structure and substructure searching. Indexes journals, patents, conference proceedings, and some technical reports. Coverage 1907-present. Here is a link to the library's SciFinder webpage to register:

Standard Methods and Analytical Procedures for Chemical and Materials Testing
Various standards and analytical procedures for chemical/materials testing are available from ACS, ASTM, AOAC, ANSI and other issuing agencies. Some sources are print (e.g., ACS's Reagent Chemicals), but others are online (e.g., active ASTM standards via SAI, AOAC's Official Methods of Analysis, Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater).
